Manchester United player ratings vs Leicester as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez good

David de Gea

Much better with the ball at his feet and denied James Maddison with a fine save in his best display so far this season. 7

Diogo Dalot

Did superbly to start the move Jadon Sancho finished to score and was proactive in attack, slick on the ball but booked. 7

Raphael Varane

Did not put a foot wrong all night and it is perverse to think he was briefly fourth-choice centre-back in pre-season. Another superb performance. 8

Christian Eriksen

Elegant on the ball and kept United's play ticking over. Barely wasted a pass as United showed impressive control. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Hit his cue in the move for Sancho's goal and not as wasteful with the ball as he was at Southampton. Could have been more intense in final third. 6

Anthony Elanga

Provided energy up front but not particularly effective with the ball and he did not last 15 minutes of the second-half before he was hooked. 5

Jadon Sancho

Took his goal superbly to put United 1-0 up for his second of the season. Quiet thereafter and made way for Cristiano Ronaldo. 7

Marcus Rashford

Timed his assist for Sancho perfectly and was much better through the middle than on Saturday but never looked like scoring. 6

Subs

Casemiro

Proactive with his passing and only majorly erred
