Manchester United player ratings of the season with two 8/10s and three 3/10s
Fifteenth in the Premier League and trophyless officially marks the worst Manchester United season in 51 years. In the end, their league position was better than anticipated.
The unexpected final-day victory over Aston Villa saw United end an eight-game winless league run and rise to a flattering 15th. They even broke the 40-point mark.
Although there is a post-season tour of Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong to navigate over the next week, the domestic season could not have ended quickly enough for United. Progression in the Europa League made the season salvageable but United lost to the worst Tottenham team since they were last relegated.
Here are how the United players rated in 2024-25:
Andre Onana
It is easy to forget how secure Onana was in the first three months. That changed after Arsenal cornered him and he committed too many clangers, with the nadir away to Lyon. 4
Altay Bayindir
Played ten times and was the hero of the FA Cup triumph at Arsenal but he was almost always unconvincing, including in the only Premier League match United won with him in net against Aston Villa. 4
Diogo Dalot
Started to make some headway in March and early April but his form before then was nondescript. United missed him when he was injured but they need a new right winger. 4
Noussair Mazraoui
One of United's most consistent performers. Mazraoui missed one game through illness and played in seven different roles. He is lacking in attack but is a valuable squad player in defence and provided value for money. 7
Harry Maguire
On an individual basis, possibly his best campaign with United. Maguire scored huge goals, was more often than not solid defensively and has become a captain without the armband. 7
Matthijs de Ligt
