Cordon in place after horror stabbings with man fighting for life
A large cordon was in place in Salford today after a stabbing which has left a man fighting for his life
Two men arrived at Salford Royal Hospital with knife wounds at around 2:30am in the early hours of this morning (Monday, May 26).
The Manchester Evening News understands that Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have identified the location of a linked incident in the Cobden Street area of Pendleton.
A scene remained in place there throughout morning. A blue police tent was erected inside the cordon with a large number of officers working in the area.
In a statement, GMP said: "Officers responded to reports of people fighting with knives on Cobden Street in Salford at 2:45am this morning (Monday 26 May 2025).
"Two men were taken to hospital with stab wounds. One male suffered a minor injury, but the other male suffered a serious injury and is in a critical condition.
"Three men – aged 27, 31, 33 – have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. They remain in police custody.
"A scene remains in place while officers conduct their enquiries. This is an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community."
