Manchester United player of the year bash scrapped as humiliated stars ask to pull the plug

Manchester United have binned their annual Player of the Year dinner after a request from humiliated players.

The Mirror report Old Trafford stars "felt awkward" staging the glamorous bash after such a dreadful campaign.

But players are said to be too embarrassed to hold the party and asked for the plug to be pulled.

An awful year under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim manager Ralf Rangnick will end with United set to post their worst-ever Premier League points total when the season ends on Sunday.
