Khabib Nurmagomedov accepts Tony Ferguson's offer to coach The Ultimate Fighter together

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has admitted he likes the idea of coaching opposite Tony Ferguson on The Ultimate Fighter.

Over the course of the last decade, the UFC has attempted to make Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson happen on five separate occasions. For one reason or the other, though, it didn’t go down, and it now appears as if the window of opportunity has passed once and for all.

Ferguson is riding a four-fight losing streak whereas Khabib retired from competitive mixed martial arts just under two years ago.

Alas, where there’s a will there’s a way, and ‘El Cucuy’ recently threw a pretty interesting suggestion out there when he floated the idea of Team Khabib vs Team Ferguson on a season of TUF. They get to show off their respective coaching skills, and Nurmagomedov gets to stay retired.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Dagestan’s favourite son confirmed that he’d be open to it.

“I like this idea, honestly. I like this idea, we can do some stuff. Right now, not too many big stars in UFC right now. Myself, I’m finished, Jon Jones is not there, Henry Cejudo not there, Daniel Cormier not there, I don’t like this guy but he has big name – Conor not there. Adesanya, Volkanovski, of course Ngannou, and my brother, pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman. Only a few people, you know.”

“If me and Tony are gonna be Ultimate Fighter coaches, I think they can create some good content, you know?”

“Dana, we have to finish two [pieces of] business – Islam Makhachev [getting a title shot], and Ultimate Fighter. Please, call me back brother. If you don’t call me back, I’m gonna be in Vegas in June, then you have to send me location!”

If Khabib and Dana White both agree to this and get it signed, sealed and delivered, it may serve
