Manchester United make unexpected ticket decision as pressure increases on Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester United have placed tickets for this weekend's game against Nottingham Forest on open sale.

United have made the mid-season decision to raise matchday ticket prices to £66 per game, with no concessions for children or pensioners, which has been described as a "kick in the teeth."

The club have said the hike will only affect a small number of fans as 97 per cent of tickets have already been sold but the remainder and resold tickets will be subject to the increase.

This has led to tickets for Saturday evening's game against Nottingham Forest being placed an open sale. Premier League match tickets at Old Trafford have always exceeded demand and the club placing tickets on open sale suggests the controversial price increase has backfired.

Although the tickets on open sale are expected to be purchased, meaning Old Trafford will be at full capacity, it reiterates supporters are not happy with the decision to hike the ticket price.

United fans held a 'Stop Exploiting Loyalty' protest before facing Everton last weekend and some vitriolic chanting was aimed at Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with the Glazer family.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust were present at the protest and they have challenged the club on the price rise. "We wanted to update you on progress in the campaign against the Club’s plans — now implemented — to charge a flat price of £66 to all Members for tickets for the remaining matches of this season," MUST wrote on social media.
