Manchester United make Donny van de Beek 'admission' plus more transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly told Donny van de Beek he is unlikely to get much game time this season.

The midfielder hasn't played competitively for the Reds since January, following his season-ending knee injury against Bournemouth in United’s first game of 2023. His issue required surgery but he returned in time for pre-season.

The Dutchman scored against Lyon in the club’s second summer friendly but failed to impress in subsequent displays. Now a report from ESPN claims Van de Beek has been told he is not in line for many minutes this season following the signings of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount, albeit both are currently sidelined with injuries.

But even with the absence of both, the playmaker has not yet had a look-in. MEN Sport understands United are waiting on potential offers from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce with the Turkish window open until September 15. ESPN adds that United will consider any offers for the out-of-favour player, who previously worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Meanwhile, Swansea City have announced the arrival of 19-year-old Kristian Fletcher from DC United, a player who had been linked with a possible switch to Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old has represented the USA Under-19s and has made 12 senior appearances for DC United under former Old Trafford hero Wayne Rooney.

Striker Fletcher is reported to have been on trials with United and Borussia Dortmund in the past without success. He links up with Swansea’s academy set-up.
