Manchester United loanee Dylan Levitt makes honest admission about loan spell

Manchester United loanee Dylan Levitt has insisted he needs to ‘step up’ at Dundee United as the season draws to a close.

Levitt drew acclaim for his performance for the Tannadice outfit at the weekend as he helped them to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Motherwell. The 21-year-old scored his fifth goal of the season , hitting the only goal of the game.

The United youngster has impressed while on loan in the Scottish Premiership this season. His performances have come at a vital time too, with the Terrors facing mounting injury problems in midfield.

Already without long-term absentees Pater Pawlett and Ian Harkes, further injuries to Kevin McDonald and Calum Butcher have seen the pressure mount on Levitt in the centre of the park. The Wales international, though, is not hiding away from the challenge.

Asked whether there was an added onus on him to shine, Levitt told The Courier: “Yes, but that’s on me. I have got to step up.

“It is all a learning experience and I have got to show what I can do. The lads who came in [against Motherwell] did well and Saturday was a real complete midfield performance from Charlie [Mulgrew], Archie Meekison and I.

“We had to stay compact. We knew what the game plan was and we stuck to it from the first minute to the last.

“I am delighted to get two goals in my last two games — that’s the first time that’s happened for me — so hopefully there are more to come. I am training every day to get better.”
