Manchester United icon Roy Keane identifies Man City man he'd loved to have worked with

Roy Keane insists he would have loved to play under Pep Guardiola and would have preferred the Manchester City boss to Jurgen Klopp.

Keane spent the vast majority of his career at Manchester United, playing under their iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson and winning countless major honours. Prior to that, he spent three years at Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough so has enjoyed working with some top coaches.

The combative midfielder was speaking with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright about managers theyd have liked to play against, with the other three naming Liverpool boss Klopp. But Keane decided to go another way.

“I’d say Pep”, Keane told Stick To Football when asked which current manager he'd want to play under. “I could see [myself under Pep Guardiola].”

“Sitting midfielder. I can be that sitting midfielder that obviously Pep used to play himself. I think I’d enjoy working under Pep. Listen, [Jurgen] Klopp is obviously brilliant, great personality for the game, you can see why players love playing for him but maybe, I’d just sneak for Pep."

Keane had already retired by the time Guardiola took his first coaching job at Barcelona B, achieving promotion to the Segunda Division in his sole campaign. The former midfielder was then called up to replace Frank Rijkaard.
