Manchester United icon David de Gea sends Antony five-word message after FA Cup win vs Liverpool

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has reacted to Sunday's thrilling FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.

The Spaniard made a record 545 appearances between the sticks for United between 2011 and 2023. De Gea won five major honours at Old Trafford under six different managers before leaving last summer.

And the shot-stopper, who remains without a club since leaving United, has responded to a comment made by Antony in the wake of Sunday's 4-3 victory which the Brazilian scored in. Following the result, Antony wrote on Instagram: "What an unforgettable day! Until the last minute... That’s what it means to be a United!! Proud to help and I will never stop fighting and working hard! Let’s go, family!"

And commenting below the winger's post, De Gea replied: "You deserve a lot brother." Antony has been heavily criticised since joining United from Ajax in a £85.5million deal in August 2022.

The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils with only two of those coming this season. Sunday's goal was his first since Janauiry's FA Cup fourth round win at Newport County.

United boss Erik ten Hag has recently claimed off-field issues are to blame for Antony’s underwhelming form. He said: "I think it's very simple: his off field issues stop him playing.

"First year was okay, the pre-season was very okay, first four games was very good. For instance, I've seen the game against Spurs back and he played a very good game.
