Manchester United 'hold very positive' talks with Jeremie Frimpong and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have held 'very positive' talks with the agent of Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to reports in Germany.

United manager Erik ten Hag is expected to prioritise a right-back this summer, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future still uncertain despite an uptick in form. The 25-year-old attracted plenty of Premier League interest in January and will likely do so again, with a sale expected to be sanctioned.

Ten Hag has explored the possibility of several targets, including for some time his Dutch compatriot Frimpong. And according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, an opening round of talks between the club and representatives have gone well.

Frimpong, who has eight goals and nine assists this season, is open to leaving Leverkusen and making the next step in his career. The 22-year-old's contract runs until 2025, with previous reports suggesting the Bundesliga outfit could demand around £40million.

United have also looked at the likes of Jurrien Timber, Denzel Dumfries and most recently Benjamin Pavard to fill what is likely to be a gap at right-back come summer.

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that United have expressed an interest in Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, following a sensational period of form with the Midlands side.

Watkins has undoubtedly been the biggest beneficiary of Unai Emery's arrival earlier this season, scoring seven goals in his last nine as Villa push for a surprise European place. The sale of Danny Ings in January has freed up the striker, whose record in recent weeks has been as good as anyones.
