Manchester United hero shares encouraging Sofyan Amrabat and Casemiro verdict

Manchester United have been urged to stand by the "terrific" Casemiro as one former player highlights what loan signing Sofyan Amrabat will soon be able to bring to a misfiring midfield alongside him.

Casemiro, 31, was a stand-out performer for United last season after his £60million transfer to the Premier League giants. However, the ex-Real Madrid man has been unable to replicate that form this campaign.

United have struggled collectively, though, with six defeats in all competitions marking their worst start to a term for 37 years. In that sense, United have been told Casemiro is not the only player to blame as he gets ready to play alongside Amrabat, potentially, in their upcoming games.

Amrabat was loaned in from Fiorentina on deadline day. However, due to injuries, the Moroccan star has not yet been deployed in his main position - instead being used as an auxiliary left-back.

Speaking about Casemiro, former United player Gary Pallister told Betway: "Nobody complained about Casemiro last season. He impressed everyone with his enthusiasm, passing range and calmness.

"I have no problem with Casemiro, but the red cards are a cause for concern. In terms of ability, though, Casemiro has been what United were crying out for.

"The whole United midfield looks unbalanced, at the moment, and his performance against Palace in the EFL Cup was a masterclass and a joy to watch. Casemiro's still a terrific player who can see things on a pitch, perhaps, only Christian Eriksen can [in the Manchester United squad].
