Manchester United have Bryan Mbeumo alternative lined up with perfect Ruben Amorim mega deal

Manchester United could have a big decision to make with regards to their summer transfer plans in the near future.

United have until Tuesday to get some early transfer business over the line before the window closes ahead of the Club World Cup. The transfer window will reopen again on June 16 and remain so for the rest of the summer, which will give United more than two months to get their squad ready for the 2025/26 campaign.

News emerged last week that Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is a target for United this summer. The Manchester Evening News reported that United want to sign Mbeumo, with the Cameroon international also thought to be keen on a move to Old Trafford. A £55million opening bid was turned down by the Bees last week.

However, recent days have seen the possibility of United signing Mbeumo become slightly less likely. This is due to the future of Brentford manager Thomas Frank, with reports suggesting that he is expected to replace Ange Postecoglou as the new manager at Tottenham Hotspur.

As a result, Spurs have now been heavily linked with signing Mbeumo and have been widely tipped to beat United to the signing of the versatile forward this summer. If that was to happen, it would leave United to look at alternative targets in the transfer market.

Given Mbeumo's ability to perform as a striker, as well as a winger, United could turn to signing a new No.9. Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to United over the last few months, with rumours seemingly ramping up in recent weeks.
