Manchester United have been given yet another problem to solve in January transfer window

It has become an all too familiar sight this season, as a player in the red shirt of Manchester United hobbles off the pitch injured.

Every Premier League club is dealing with injuries. There are well over 100 players across the 20 teams that are currently unavailable. But the plague has come down with particular fury at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's first-choice back-four has been decimated, with Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez long-term absentees, while Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have both had spells on the sidelines.

Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Tyrell Malacia were all injured in pre-season while the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount, Casemiro, Sergio Reguilon, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Tom Heaton and several others have all missed at least one game. On Saturday, things got worse once again for United.

The Danish duo of Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen both limped off the field with hamstring and knee injuries, respectively, and they couldn't have come at a worse time for either. Though his goals couldn't prevent defeat, Hojlund was coming off the back of a galvanising brace against FC Copenhagen in midweek while Eriksen had just earned his way back into the starting XI and was forming an intriguing partnership with Scott McTominay.

Both injuries are terrible blows to United. Hojlund, though lacking a Premier League goal, had given United a presence in attacking that either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford will have to replace. But the loss of Eriksen could be even harder to take.
