Manchester United handed fresh Harry Kane transfer blow as Daniel Levy explains Bayern Munich decision

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has revealed the club has a buy back clause in Harry Kane's Bayern Munich deal.

After Manchester United highlighted Kane as a top target for the summer, Erik ten Hag was forced to look at other options when it became clear Levy would not sell the forward to another Premier League club. Eventually, the 30-year-old signed for Bayern and has since settled in well at the Allianz Arena.

So far, Kane has scored four goals in five appearances for the Bundesliga giants and will come up against the Reds on Wednesday evening in the Champions League. However, those hoping a move to Germany would facilitate a move to Old Trafford in the future have been left dashed by Levy's comments on Tuesday evening.

Football.London reports Spurs' chief told supporters at their forum a buy back clause has been inserted into Kane's deal. It is not clear when or if Tottenham will activate the clause but the England captain may be tempted to return to the division at some stage to break Alan Shearer's all-time goalscoring record.

When Kane eventually left North London in the summer, Levy explained in a statement why he decided to sell. He told the fans: "We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term. Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer.
