Manchester United given new transfer plan to sign Manuel Ugarte and Ivan Toney

The summer transfer window closes in just over a week with Manchester United and other Premier League clubs having until 11pm on August 30 to complete any deals.

It's been a busy window so far at Old Trafford with four signings made by new sporting director Dan Ashworth whilst numerous other players have left. And there is still work to be done with Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte a target to bolster Erik ten Hag's options in midfield.

A transfer fee for the 23-year-old continues to thwart any potential deal though, with MEN Sport understanding that United may need to sell Scott McTominay to facilitate a move for the Uruguayan. It's a tricky situation which could go down to the final moments of next week's deadline.

But one potential solution has emerged which could provide United with a much-needed boost in getting McTonminay and the out-of-favour Victor Lindelof off their books. Crystal Palace are set to sell centre-back Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30million.

With Marc Guehi also being strongly linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, the Eagles may need a new centre-back. MEN Sport understands that Lindelof is now expected to stay as he is still not training after his withdrawal during a pre-season friendly three weeks ago.
