Manchester United fans spot ideal double solution to midfield woes during West Ham vs Wolves

Manchester United supporters are adamant they have spotted a double solution to their midfield problems.

Having finished as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League last season, key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom issued a triple statement of intent; signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and returning five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

United were, though, unable to follow up those deals with a top-level defensive midfielder.

Manchester Evening News understands that has, instead, been identified as a priority area for the next window and Declan Rice is still target number one in that regard.

That's despite concerns West Ham might dig their heels in over a valuation for the England international.

Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Haidara and Ruben Neves from Wolves have been mooted as potential alternatives.

Rice and Neves went head-to-head during the Premier League meeting between West Ham and Wolves on Sunday afternoon, meanwhile, as United supporters took notice of their performance and outlined what they could bring to Old Trafford in tandem next season.

All-action Rice struck the post for the Hammers as they went on to win the game 1-0.
