Manchester United fans protest Glazers with 73rd-minute walkout vs Brentford

Sections of Manchester United supporters left Old Trafford during the second half of their Premier League game with Brentford in a pre-planned protest against The Glazers.

Disgruntled fans, who are unhappy over the way their club is being run, left the ground with 17 minutes left to play - a reference to the 17 years their owners have been at United. There were audible anti-Glazer chants during Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea and these were repeated during Monday’s final home game of the season.

Some supporters performed the protest in response to unfulfilled promises from the Glazers in the wake of the European Super League collapse. Among a number of pledges, they indicated their intention for Old Trafford upgrades and that fan share scheme would be implemented.

While plans are being drawn up for improvements to the Theatre of Dreams, no such advancements have been made on the fan share proposals. The United faithful are also unhappy with many other aspects too, leading to a big separation between owners and supporters.

Monday’s in-game protest didn't quite attract the numbers expected, with most fans staying out with their side 3-0 up and putting in an entertaining display. However, the message was still clear.

A number of anti-Glazers banners and posters were present throughout the match. with yellow and green scarves and flares, being prominent towards the latter stages of the match.
