Manchester United 'face fierce competition' for Tottenham star and other transfer rumours

Manchester United will reportedly face 'fierce competition' from Juventus should they wish to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Reds have suffered difficulties in central midfielder so far this season with Casemiro's form having dropped and new signings Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat struggling to settle. This has led to speculation as to whether United will choose to jump into the transfer market in January to rectify this problem.

One name being linked at this stage is Spurs' Hojbjerg. The Denmark international has not been a first-choice player under Ange Postecoglou and the suggestion is that he may be on the lookout for a new club soon.

According to Corriere dello Sport, should United wish to sign him they must compete with Juve who are looking desperately for midfield reinforcements following bans for Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli. It is unclear at this stage whether the Reds would seek a permanent or loan deal for Hojbjerg in a couple of months' time.

Elsewhere, the hunt for a new centre-back at United continues to heat up with Calciomercato reporting Juve's Gleison Bremer has been added to Erik ten Hag's shortlist. The Reds' defensive options have been cut this season due to an array of different injuries.

The latest concern with Lisandro Martinez could see United dip into the January market and it is believed Bremer could be an option for them. The 26-year-old has been a key player for the Serie A giants this season, but considering Juve's plight both on and off the pitch, the Reds could land themselves a bargain.
