Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot makes demand to teammates after win against Burnley

Diogo Dalot has urged Manchester United to maintain high standards after the side's 1-0 win against Burnley.

United had lost three games in a row coming into Saturday's clash at Turf Moor, meaning claiming a win was crucial and Jonny Evans came close to giving the Reds a perfect start when scoring from a corner in the 24th minute.

Evans was denied a dream goal on his first start since re-signing for the club on a short-term deal, though, after his header was chalked off by VAR because Rasmus Hojlund was standing in the goalkeeper's path in an offside position.

United eventually found the breakthrough they were desperate for on the stroke of half-time thanks to a world-class finish from Bruno Fernandes, who was played into the box by a stunning cross-field pass from Evans.

That goal proved to be the matchwinner and although it was not a vintage performance by any means, it was a gritty display and an important three points after a disappointing few weeks at the club.

Dalot spoke to MUTV after the final whistle and said: "I think today was massive. Apart from the three points, I think the clean sheet brings us a little bit of extra confidence to go to the next games, which we needed after the last few games.

"We conceded a lot of goals and this has to build a foundation now for the next game. I think we were a proper compact team, aggressive, defending the box and everybody into each other.

"This is the standard we need to have for the rest of the season."
