Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes equals Premier League record with award win
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has become just the second player in Premier League history to win the division's Goal of the Month award for a third time.
The Portuguese international's match-winning strike against Burnley at Turf Moor last month has won the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for September. He connected with Jonny Evans' lofted pass over the top of the Clarets' defence and fired home a low volley.
It was a sweet strike to light up what was, on the whole, a dull and drab affair, securing United a much-needed three points. Fernandes' effort was crowned the winner in the fan-voted award, pipping the likes of Arsenal's Leandro Trossard and teammate Hannibal Mejbri to the gong.

His award-winning strike was his second and most recent goal of the campaign, meaning he will be hoping to increase his attacking output once the Premier League campaign resumes in just over a week's time. United make the journey across the Pennines to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next Saturday evening.
As a result of scooping September's Premier League Goal of the Month award, Fernandes has followed in the footsteps of former England international Andros Townsend, who joined Luton Town earlier this week, in becoming just the second player in the history of the Premier League to win the gong for a third time. Townsend completed his hat-trick of award wins in December 2021.
Fernandes won the first of his three Goal of the Month accolades in June 2020, scoring in a 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium in the extended 2019/20 campaign. He
