Manchester United ask Paul Pogba to delay decision on his future until new manager is appointed

Manchester United have urged Paul Pogba to delay a decision on his future at the club until they have appointed a new permanent manager.

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and he’s so far rejected the chance to extend his deal, despite legnthy conversations with his representatives.

The midfielder is open to staying at the Theatre of Dreams but he’s attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who would offer Pogba a huge signing-on fee given they could sign him for free.

Pogba has been free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs since January 1st but ESPN report that United have urged Pogba to wait until the summer before making a decision on leaving the club.

United have started the process of appointing a new manager by drawing up a five-man shortlist, which includes the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.

The club feel a new boss could persuade Pogba to stay and Ralf Rangnick, who will take on a two-year consultancy role at the end of the season, has spoken enthusiastically about the midfielder’s qualities since taking charge.

Pogba hopes to return to action after the winter break, having missed the last two months with a groin injury.

United take on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Friday.
