Manchester United's Paul Pogba shares call with Antoine Griezmann ahead of Champions League tie

Paul Pogba has spoken with Antoine Griezmann ahead of Manchester United's match against Atletico Madrid.

Ralf Ragnick started Pogba on Sunday afternoon as United beat Leeds 4-2 at Elland Road. The Frenchman delivered an impressive first-half performance before he was substituted off for Fred in the 67th minute, who then scored the Reds' third goal.

Pogba is now returning to full match fitness after his return from injury and he could start again on Wednesday night.

United play Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 in the Champions League on Wednesday and Pogba will likely play against his fellow countryman Griezmann at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, in the first leg of the knockout clash.

Pogba shared a FaceTime call with Griezmann on Monday ahead of the match and he shared the update to his social media.

Pogba is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, which means he could leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Sources close to the 28-year-old say there is still no inclination for the midfielder to commit to United at this late stage and United are now planning for life after Pogba, despite the player and Rangnick holding positive discussions since his return from injury.

That means Pogba is expected to leave United on a free transfer exactly 10 years after he last departed for free.
