Manchester United are reliant on one player to exploit Liverpool FC weakness

The last time Liverpool visited Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag secured his first victory as Manchester United manager.

On Sunday, Ten Hag might need another to strengthen his chances of keeping his job. The FA Cup represents United's last remaining hope of a trophy this season, meaning their quarter-final showdown with the Merseysiders ranks as one of the biggest games of his tenure thus far.

Currently eight points shy of the top four, United's only hope of salvaging something from this campaign will be by winning the FA Cup. But to do so they will have to get the better of a Liverpool side that has already scooped one trophy this term and are in contention to win another three.

Despite all of their injury problems, Jurgen Klopp has managed to get a consistent tune out of his players and they were unfortunate not to beat Manchester City at the weekend. If the Reds are to get the better of their fiercest rival and book a third Wembley trip of the Ten Hag era, they will almost certainly need the magic of Alejandro Garnacho. The young Argentine was excellent against Everton at the weekend, winning two penalties to help United secure a 2-0 win.
