Manchester United 'admire' Girona right-back Arnau Martinez and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are among several top European sides eyeing Girona right-back Arnau Martinez, according to reports.

Full-back is one of four areas in which Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen next summer, with problems on both sides of the back-four at United. Neither Aaron Wan-Bissaka nor Diogo Dalot have nailed down their spot as first-choice on the right, and past interest in Jeremie Frimpong suggests it is an area to improve.

Talks were held with the representatives of Frimpong but 90min now reports that Martinez is also on their radar. The 20-year-old has been pivotal for Girona this season as they sit third in their first season after promotion.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on the Spain under-21 international, who already has 102 senior appearances to his name. Martinez is naturally a right-back but can also play in central defence or in midfield.

Elsewhere, Tuttomercato reports that Juventus have joined the race to sign Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.

United have been linked with the 19-year-old in the past and Ten Hag is said to be keen to bring in a younger centre-back. There are growing concerns regarding the long-term fitness of Raphael Varane, while Harry Maguire could leave in search of more regular football.

Scalvini is on the radar of Europe's top clubs but any move for the Italian will likely set anyone back at least €45million. Juventus are the latest side to express their interest, with Inter Milan reportedly seeing an offer rejected in the summer.
