Manchester's new late-night smashed burger spot from Almost Famous founder makes big promise
The team behind Super Awesome Deluxe will be the first to tell you it's not the only spot in Manchester city centre serving up ‘smashed’ burgers, but they reckon they’re one of only a small few to truly perfect the concept on our patch.
Taking inspiration from similar set-ups across the world - like Supernova Burger in London and Maijard Dutch Smashburgers in Amsterdam - the burger joint will arrive on Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter on Wednesday (October 9).
Burgers at Super Awesome Deluxe are made to order, with only limited quantities available each day to ensure standards are kept high, bosses say. The menu consists of three choices: a Super, an Awesome or a Deluxe burger.

From Almost Famous founder Beau Myers, the concept was borne out of the lockdown and initially was intended to be a one-off pop-up called SAD Burger with an emphasis on mental health. But, gone are the plans for the temporary sad face branding and in comes a new neon pink glimmer of permanence.
Using meat sourced from renowned Manchester butcher Lee "Frosty" Frost, the burgers, which are priced from £8.50 to £10.50, feature both a pleasing crispy edge and a delicious bite of caramalised flavour. Quite frankly, this is far from your usual 1am burger.
Speaking about the process behind the burgers, Beau tells the Manchester Evening News: “For the Super Awesome Deluxe patty, we started with the best locally farmed beef, using a unique blend that delivers a rich, bold flavour with a perfectly tender mouthfeel: Chuck, brisket, some short rib and aged marrow.
