Manchester restaurant goes viral after dessert hack - and even Hollywood actress Florence Pugh is a fan

A new pasta spot gaining a reputation for fresh Italian dishes has caught the attention of a A-list actor with its latest culinary innovation.

A collaboration between the team behind Gooey and Michelin-trained chef Sam Astley Dean, Onda has taken up residence at The New Cross bar between the Northern Quarter and Ancoats, and has been cooking up a storm with its takes Italian classics.

But, on this occasion it's the restaurant's desserts which have everybody - including an Academy Award-nominated actor - talking. Over the weekend, the kitchen team shared a video of their new tiramisu drawer, and it quickly went viral amassing over 23 million views across Instagram and TikTok with thousands of shares and comments.

The amazing dessert drawer features a massive slab of tiramisu which chefs can scoop to order when they're busy during service. The video shows the chef pulling out the drawer and dishing out a big spoonful before sitting down and tucking in.

They joked "people seem to pretty keen on having one in their bedside table, we're looking into it", with many in the comments saying they "needed" one at home, and asking how they could get one.

One person commented: “This but it’s every drawer in the filing cabinet in my office.” Another added: “Just started crying because I don't have a tiramisu drawer."

And a third asked: "How much does it cost to get 20 minutes alone with a tiramisu drawer?"

Someone else who was impressed by the epic refrigerated dessert cabinet was Hollywood actor Florence Pugh, who re-shared the sweet treat on her Instagram stories and described the pudding as 'literally my heaven'.
