Manchester Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations hit by delays after train stops in wrong place

Disruption is expected between two stations in Manchester this morning with lines blocked due to a train 'not stopping in the correct position'.

Lines are currently blocked between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road. Services between these two stations are currently 'delayed or revised', according to National Rail.

Northern and TransPennine Express services are currently affected, with disruption expected until at least 11am. National Rail said: "An operational incident between Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly means that all lines are blocked.

"Trains running between these station may be delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 11:00."

Posting on X, Northern said: "Due to a train not stopping in the correct position at a station at Manchester Oxford Road fewer trains are able to run on some lines. Train services running through this station will be delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised."

TransPennine Express posted: "TransPennine Due to an operational incident between #ManchesterOxfordRoad and #ManchesterPiccadilly some lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until 11:00."

Customers can use tickets on Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport while the disruption is ongoing.
