Manchester City's Lioness Alex Greenwood to launch own nutrition brand with childhood sweetheart

Manchester City star Alex Greenwood is to launch her own nutrition brand alongside her childhood sweetheart.

The defender, who was one of England's stand-out players at the Women's World Cup, is preparing to launch Boast Elite with Jack O'Connell.

Mr O'Connell played for Blackburn Rovers, Rotheram United, York City, Rochdate, Brentford and Sheffield United before retiring in July. The couple both grew up in Merseyside before meeting at their sixth-form college Savio Salesian in Bootle.

Boast Elite is also being co-founded alongside Daniel Baldwin, a health and fitness consultant at Bolton Arena and Andrew Hibbert who owns The Strength Factory North West.

Alex Greenwood said: "I've been working on something exciting, something that fuels your greatness.

"I'm a big believer in 1% wins. As an athlete what I put in my body is vital for my performance and when I was preparing for the World Cup it meant that no matter what, regardless of where I was, nutrition needed to be at the forefront of my mind, as well as staying on top of my health inside and out.

"Fuelling my body with nutritional food and supplements gives me an instant boost and is the reason why I have created my nutrition brand, Boast, to help people feel their very best."

According to filings with Companies House, the chief executive of Walsall-based Ensec, a manufacturer of electric lighting equipment, is the firm's chairman and majority shareholder.

While Mr Baldwin, Mr Hibbert and Mr O'Connell are all listed as directors, Alex Greenwood is not.
