Manchester City eclipsed by Hamilton Accies as meanest defence in major UK leagues

English Premier League champions Manchester City were at the weekend eclipsed by Hamilton Accies as the meanest defence in the four main leagues of Scottish and English football.

Pep Guardiola's side beat Sheffield United 2-1 yesterday, but Jayden Bogle's 85th-minute leveller to Erling Haaland's opener was the first league goal they had conceded in three games, before Rodri's winner three minutes later kept them on top.

Similarly, Hamilton Accies top League One after four games, following Saturday's 1-0 home win over Montrose, with Dylan Tait's top corner screamer maintaining their 100 per cent record, without conceding.

That follows a 3-0 win at Edinburgh City last weekend, a 2-0 triumph at Kelty Hearts, and a 1-0 season opening win at home to Cove Rangers.

John Rankin's side are two points clear of Falkirk at the top, heading into Saturday's clash at Stirling Albion.

The New Douglas Park club celebrated their strong defence with a social media message that read: 'Clean Sheets: After Man City conceded yesterday we are now the only team in the top four Scottish and English leagues yet to lose a league goal this season'.
