Manchester bakery paid visit from Man v Food star Alan Richman after wowing Ant McPartlin

The owners of a much-loved Manchester bakery have spoken of their delight after a visit from Man V Food star Alan Richman. The American TV personality is well know for taking on seemingly impossible food challenges, but his latest show has brought him across the Atlantic for an authentic taste of the British Isles.

Billed "as a love letter" to the British cuisine, the Brooklyn-based food expert and chef is attempting to spotlight the "globally misunderstood" and "unfairly maligned" realm of British cuisine for a new Food Network UK show, Adam Richman Eats Britain. The presenter travels all over the UK, but has been drawing attention for his stop off in Manchester.

As well as dropping in at the acclaimed Hip Hop Chip Shop in Ancoats, he also nipped around the corner to meet Debs and the team at The Flat Baker, the hatch-style bakery launched in lockdown that specialises in Brazilian bakes. Co-owners Deborah and Matt described his visit as "an honour" as they shared a number of images from filming.

Glad for the suspense to finally be over, they wrote on Instagram: "Adam Richman Eats Britain is finally out!!

"The new TV show of @adamrichman is streaming on Food Network and Discovery+ on Mondays and we are thrilled to announce that we are featured on an episode.

"We have been following Adam’s shows for so long and having the pleasure to not only meet this super nice guy, but be featured on his show is an honour for us! Thanks for the opportunity Adam and the crew, you’re a legend!!"
