Wrexham stars to watch with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's men set for Manchester United test

Wrexham will face a step up in opposition this season following their promotion from the National League, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's side entering League Two.

Their National League campaign last season was a record-breaking one, with a remarkable 111 points setting a new benchmark for English football's top five divisions. However, they will face a tough ask to repeat the feat as they enter the fourth tier for the first time since 2008.

Despite having just been promoted, the Dragons have been installed as favourites to win the league ahead of Stockport County. This is due to their budget and strength of their existing squad, with the appeal of playing for the Hollywood-backed side having attracted some high-calibre players to the club.

For example, Paul Mullin was the top scorer in League Two the season before joining Wrexham, having scored 32 goals for Cambridge United in the 2020/21 campaign. Meanwhile, Ben Tozer captained Cheltenham Town to promotion into League One the same season before stepping down to play in the National League. Ben Foster remains the biggest name on the North Wales' side's books, having played a full Premier League season for Watford during the 2021/22 campaign.

But beyond the big names, there are plenty of other talented players on the books - with many having already made a name for themselves in the EFL. Here at MEN Sport, we take a look at those who may make an impact for Wrexham as they prepare to face Manchester United in their pre-season fixture.

Much was expected from Lee, with his father, Rob, having played for England and Newcastle United in the 1990s. Lee jnr. came through the West Ham youth ranks, making his Premier League debut as an 18-year-old in September 2013.
