Manager 'trying' to complete Leicester City transfer made difficult by future uncertainty

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe says he is "trying" to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is on loan at the Lancashire club and has been on impressive form in the Championship. He has earned rave reviews from teammates, fans and pundits alike during his time in the north west.

Iversen is under contract at City until the summer of 2025. His immediate future is not certain though, given he is ready to progress and test himself above Championship level.

“I’m trying," Lowe said. "He’s contracted to Leicester City for a long time and it depends on whether he wants to go and play games of football on loan, or find a club. We’d love all the loan lads back but those decisions are unfortunately out of my hands.”

Iversen could have a future at Leicester next season, with Eldin Jakupovic out of contract and Danny Ward possibly seeking first team football elsewhere. Brendan Rodgers recently spoke highly of the young Dane.

“He’s developing really, really well, he’s a young guy that he wasn’t about the squads when I came in here but he’s been in from time to time but a lot of the time he’s been out on loan,” he said earlier this month.

“His journey is exactly what is needed for a young ‘keeper, he’s gone out at Oldham, Rotherham, he’s continued to grow and developed at Preston and that’s what the game is about for young players. So he’s out there getting great experience.”
