Man who shouted 'Munich' at Manchester United fans banned from football grounds

A man who shouted 'Munich' at Manchester United fans and raised his arms in an aeroplane gesture has been banned from attending football matches. Billy Rambadt tried to rouse a group of United fans ahead of the club's away match at Burnley on September 23 last year.

Lancashire Police says Rambadt was standing outside of a pub on Yorkshire Street, Burnley, at 5.32pm when he began his 'tragedy chanting' as United fans walked past. Rambadt's actions, which were slammed as 'abhorrent' by Lancashire Police, were made in reference to the 1958 Munich Air Disaster.

The tragedy took 23 lives - including eight United players, three club staff and eight journalists. Rambadt was captured on a police officer's body-worn camera.
