Man Utd: Ten Hag now handed 'hugely significant' boost at Old Trafford

Manchester United have received a ‘hugely significant’ boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal, according to journalist Dean Jones.

New signing Antony has reportedly been cleared to face the Gunners when they visit Old Trafford over the weekend as United aim to end the visitor’s 100 percent record this season.

United have finally completed the signing of Antony from Ajax for a fee of £86 million following protracted negotiations with the reigning Eredivisie champions.

The 22-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, with the option of an additional year, and is in line to make his home debut against Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag’s charges have recovered well after suffering back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford in their opening two top-flight fixtures, putting a run of three consecutive victories together.

A shock 2-1 win over fierce rivals Liverpool has been followed up by 1-0 victories over both Southampton and Leicester City, moving United up to fifth place in the Premier League table.

And with Antony set to join a side now in good spirits and on a winning run, the 20-time English champions will surely be hoping of securing a positive result against their north London opponents.

Jones believes that Antony’s availability could have a big part to play in the result when United take on Arsenal on Sunday.

He told GiveMeSport: “It’s hugely significant, and it could give United an edge as they look to end Arsenal’s 100 percent run.

“No one expected them to beat Liverpool when they did, but with this as well as Casemiro set to play, you do wonder if there will be that same bounce about them as they look to cause an upset.”
