Chelsea: £86m duo could still make late exit at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are unlikely to offload Conor Gallagher or Armando Broja ahead of the fast-approaching deadline, although a Stamford Bridge exit is ‘not impossible’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Gallagher and Broja returned from respective loan spells with Crystal Palace and Southampton at the end of last season, but they have been linked with a quickfire departure from west London.
Crystal Palace have been keen to seal Gallagher’s return to Selhurst Park and they headed to Chelsea with a £27million bid earlier this week.
However, that offer proved not to be enough and the 22-year-old has also been Newcastle United’s top target during the closing stages of the transfer window.
West Ham United have been keen on striking a deal for Gallagher as well, although only on a season-long loan.
The east Londoners have also shown an interest in Broja and were prepared to submit a £30million bid in July, but that move failed to come to fruition.
Everton and Newcastle United are additional admirers of the 20-year-old striker who has come through the Chelsea youth ranks.
With less than an hour to go before the transfer window slams shut, Jones understands that it is unlikely that Gallagher or Broja will secure a move away from Chelsea.
However, the journalist believes it would be unwise to totally rule out the possibility of either man leaving Stamford Bridge.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s not impossible that Broja or Gallagher will go late in the window.
“But the briefings coming out at the moment are that it’s unlikely.”
Gallagher and Broja may be valued at a combined £86million by the CIES Football Observatory, but they have found regular game-time hard to come by since returning from their respective loan spells.
