Cristiano Ronaldo is never short of an opinion and he was full of them in an exclusive sit-down interview with former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking on the new series of Rio Ferdinand meets..., Ronaldo touched on Manchester United, Real Madrid, future plans after retirement and his critics. MEN Sport has accumulated four lines you may have missed from the chat with the 39-year-old.

One of the clear points of difference between Erik ten Hag and Ronaldo appears to have stemmed from the difference of opinion over the club's demands at this stage. It also appears he was not keen by the lack of fight for a place at the top.

"Manchester United need to rebuild everything in my opinion," he explained. "The coach said you cannot compete to win the Premier League and Champions League. You cannot say that if you are Manchester United coach.

"You may see that you don’t have that potential but you have got to try, you have to try. Maybe [the standards have changed] but this club needs time to rebuild."

Ineos would appear to agree with Ronaldo over a culture reset following their sweeping changes over the summer, while his passion when speaking about United only further demonstrates his love for the club.

Ronaldo appears to be more complimentary about United's future but he could not resist a dig at Ten Hag. "They have started to change the structure of the club, the president, the infrastructure, the owners, they have invested in the training ground. So I am happy," he added.
