Man Utd now 'make offer' for 127-game Premier League star at Old Trafford

Manchester United have made an offer for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka as boss Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his Old Trafford squad, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils have not been afraid to splash the cash during the summer window, having parted with close to £130million, but further fresh faces could be acquired ahead of the 11pm deadline on September 1.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United have tested Newcastle’s resolve by making a loan offer for Dubravka.

The report suggests an agreement over the 30-cap Slovakia international has yet to be reached, but ten Hag is hoping to bring in a new goalkeeper ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

It is understood that Dubravka is open to swapping St James’ Park for Old Trafford and personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

Although the 33-year-old has three years remaining on his £44,000-per-week contract, the £10million arrival of Nick Pope has resulted in him falling down the pecking order at Newcastle.

Dubravka has not been afforded a single minute of action since the campaign got underway earlier this month.

Jones understands that Manchester United have upped the ante in their pursuit of a new goalkeeping option by setting their sights on Dubravka.

The transfer insider is aware that a proposal has been put forward by the Red Devils with the deadline looming.

He believes Manchester United are looking to acquire Dubravka after their shortlist of targets has gradually got smaller as we near September 1.
