Man Utd: Eriksen deal 'offers more assurance' over £43m signing at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s signing of Christian Eriksen offers more assurances in their pursuit of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, according to Dean Jones.

The Red Devils have been linked with the Ajax and Argentina centre-back throughout the summer.

Both Arsenal and United are chasing the signing of the 24-year-old this summer, after the 5 foot 9 centre-back told the Dutch giants that he would like to leave the club this summer for a Premier League experience.

Mikel Arteta’s side are known to have an interest in Martínez, with the Spanish head coach desperate to improve his backline at the Emirates Stadium, but ten Hag has also shown a desire to wrestle the player off of the north London club.

The seven-time Argentina international has previously worked under ten Hag during the Dutchman’s time in charge of Ajax, which could potentially play a part in the centre-back’s decision.

And Jones believes that Martínez is likely to choose United over Arsenal, following the Red Devils’ recent business.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “We’ve seen them make a good offer to [Christian] Eriksen and get that one done.

“It just really gives me more assurance that the Lisandro Martínez’s decision is that he probably chooses Manchester United [over Arsenal]”

It will be interesting to see which way Martínez goes in his choice between both Arsenal and Manchester United, as it could be assumed that he would likely be a regular starter at whichever club he chooses to sign for.

The £43m valued centre-back made 37 appearances for the Eredivisie club last season, scoring one goal and providing four assists, according to Transfermarkt.
