Man Utd could land midfield 'upgrade' in £175k-a-week star at Old Trafford

Manchester United will secure an ‘upgrade’ on their current midfield options if Adrien Rabiot joins from Juventus, but the Frenchman could cause ‘some issues’ at Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils are currently bottom of the Premier League following a disastrous start to the campaign, resulting in boss Erik ten Hag desperately seeking fresh faces ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Manchester United are set to hold further talks with Rabiot’s agent and mother Veronique today, with wage demands remaining the key stumbling block in getting a deal over the line.

It comes after Red Devils director John Murtough held a positive meeting with the 27-year-old’s representatives after travelling to Turin before the weekend.

Manchester United have been given permission to discuss personal terms after an initial £15million fee was agreed with Juventus last week.

The Italian side are open to sanctioning the former Paris Saint-Germain man’s departure as he has entered the final 12 months of his £175,000-per-week contract.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that all parties are ‘really confident’ that Rabiot will swap Juventus for Old Trafford ahead of the deadline.

Jones believes Rabiot will head to the top of the pecking order at the heart of Manchester United’s midfield if his move is rubber-stamped.

However, the transfer insider has fears over the 29-cap France international’s personality and, as a result, has warned that he could create some difficult situations for ten Hag.
