Man Utd: £50m star would have 'head turned' by Old Trafford move

Manchester United could turn Ivan Toney‘s head, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Red Devils were linked with the Brentford striker during the summer transfer window, and O’Rourke does not think they would have any problem luring him to Old Trafford in the near future.

Toney has made a fine start to this season, scoring five goals in seven league outings.

As a result, the 26-year-old has been called up to the England squad for their UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Germany.

Following his first Three Lions call-up, Toney said (via Sky Sports): “This is my opportunity now. I’m excited and confident for it and I’m very hungry. I’ve been working for this moment and it’s here now.”

The Brentford striker also impressed last term, scoring 14 times in all competitions for the Bees, and his exploits reportedly caught the attention of United. As per the Daily Mirror, the Manchester club considered making a move for him last month.

If United and Erik ten Hag do eventually come in for Toney, O’Rourke thinks the Englishman will find it hard to say no.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Ivan Toney, he’s worked wonders to get that call-up to the England squad.

“He’s been instrumental for Brentford since they came up to the Premier League last season, and the chance to move to a massive club like Manchester United, I’m sure, would turn his head. That’s pretty obvious, I think, for any player.”

If he keeps scoring, then it looks likely. As well as United, Chelsea are also thought to have Toney on their radar, so he clearly has his admirers at the top end of the Premier League table.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues weighed up making a bid for the former Peterborough man in the last transfer window, too.
