Man Utd: £29.9m star 'definitely on Ten Hag's radar' at Old Trafford
Manchester United have had PSV midfielder Ibrahima Sangare on their radar this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Red Devils are still involved in an intense battle with Barcelona for the services of Frenkie de Jong, but the Ivory Coast international has emerged as a potential alternative to the Dutchman.
According to Sky Sports, United and Chelsea are interested in Sangare, who’s still got three years remaining on his PSV deal but has a release clause which could see him signed for just £29.9m.
The report claims that a source close to the midfielder says that he has his heart set on a move to the Premier League, with both Liverpool and Newcastle also in the running.
Ten Hag is desperate to bolster his midfield options following the departures of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata.
However, despite confirming United’s interest, Jones is unsure about their intent given they’re yet to step up their pursuit for the 24-year-old.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “PSV want him to sign a new deal, so I don’t think United can really hang around on this one, but he is definitely someone they’ve had on the radar, but I’m wondering what their intent really is given they haven’t made any moves yet.”
Ultimately, it proved a campaign of near-misses for PSV, who were runners up in the Eredivisie and were knocked out of three European competitions, culminating in a Conference League exit at the hands of Leicester in the quarter finals, although they did claim the KNVB Cup.
But on a personal level, Sangare was consistently one of the club’s best performers, which is why he has some of English football’s top teams on his radar.
