Man United wonderkid hoping to become the next Kobbie Mainoo shares worrying injury update

Manchester United academy starlet Amir Ibragimov looks to have sustained yet another injury. It comes after the 16-year-old's season has been littered with fitness setbacks.

Taking to Instagram, the young midfielder posted an image of his left foot in a protective boot. He is also holding a crutch.

He wrote: "Alhamdulillah Always [bandaged heart emoji]," along with the image. Ibragimov played 90 minutes for England's Under-16 side just three days earlier in a 2-1 defeat to Belgium in a friendly. He had come on as a sub earlier in the week too, scoring the winner late on to round of a tremendous comeback.

It has been reported that he rolled his ankle during training. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Unfortunately for the teenage prodigy, this is not the first time he has suffered from injury this season. Earlier in the campaign he did manage to feature alongside his brother, Gazik, in a youth team match against Liverpool.

Amir is viewed as one of the best prospects in the academy currently and is looking to follow in the footsteps of Kobbie Mainoo after his first-team breakthrough under Erik ten Hag this season.

The Ibragimov brothers are big in the United youth sides though with the youngest of four, Muhammed, also playing for the Red Devils after switching from Manchester City. Amir, born in Russia, joined from Sheffield United and has now gone on to represent England at age-group level.
