Man United told wonderkid's 'outstanding' trait as transfer timeline set after trial

Manchester United are among a number of Premier League clubs linked with a move for Cliftonville youngster Coran Madden, according to the latest reports.

The 15-year-old forward made his senior debut for the Northern Irish outfit in their 4-0 win over Loughgall, providing an assist for Rory Hale's goal. United, along with City, Arsenal and Newcastle United, have all had the youngster on trial in recent months and are said to be keeping a close eye on his development.

Cliftonville boss Jim Magilton was reluctant to put any pressure on the youngster's shoulder, having been linked with a move to England when he turns 16.

When asked how good Madden can be, Magilton told BelfastLive: "We don't know, and that's the honest answer. Anyone who tells you he is going to be this or that is telling lies. You can never tell if a youngster at that age is going to be a great player as they get older.

"What I can tell you is that he is technically very good. Physically he is still growing and maturing. Mentally he is outstanding.

"There has been a lot of talk and hype around Coran for quite some time, so he has to deal with that."

Magilton named the youngster on the bench for the clash with Loughall on Saturday, before introducing Madden to game on the 67th minute mark from the bench. He set up Cliftonville's fourth goal of the game with his first touch.

"We were finding the right time to give Coran some senior minutes, and he has been in and around the squad and first-team training, and he has done great," Magilton said.
