Newcastle United are reportedly ready to lodge a transfer bid for Wolves captain Conor Coady.

The Magpies, who are embroiled in a relegation battle, are desperate to strengthen in the centre of defence before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm tomorrow night.

And, according to the Daily Star, Eddie Howe’s side are ready to pay in excess of £25million to sign Coady.

Newcastle, backed by their mega-rich Saudi owners, have been scouring Europe in a bid to improve their Premier League survival chances but have suffered numerous setbacks.

They have now turned their attention to a proven Premier League defender.

Barcelona have confirmed Adama Traore's exit from Wolverhampton Wanderers and return to Camp Nou.

Traore joined Barcelona after Wolves' Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur were unsuccessful in their attempts to land the Spaniard.

Barcelona have confirmed that the player has joined them on loan until the end of June this year and they will pay the entirety of Traore's wages.

In a statement released on Saturday night, Xavi's side have also said there is an option to sign the player on a permanent deal at the end of his loan stint.

Traore will be presented as a Barcelona player on Wednesday and Wolves have released a statement outlining their thought process behind allowing the winger to depart.
