'Unthinkable' Newcastle update emerges involving Kane and Muller

Transfer insider Dean Jones has tipped Newcastle to try to make a major statement in the summer transfer window by trying to entice some of the biggest names in European football to St James’ Park, including Harry Kane.

The Magpies are currently embroiled in a relegation battle, but Jones thinks they will look to flex their financial power at the end of the season if they stay in the top-flight.

Who did Newcastle sign in January?

In their first transfer window under the new owners, headed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Newcastle made five signings last month.

Eddie Howe strengthened his defence by bringing in full-backs Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett, as well as centre-back Dan Burn.

The Newcastle boss also reinforced his midfield thanks to the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon, while Chris Wood arrived on Tyneside from Burnley.

What has Jones said about who Newcastle could try to sign in the summer?

Under their previous owner Mike Ashley, Newcastle rarely spent heavily, but Jones believes the club will be dreaming much bigger now.

He has claimed that England captain Kane has already been mentioned to him as a potential target, while Thomas Muller and Isco are also names that he has heard Newcastle are interested in.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I honestly think Newcastle will explore some moves that have been unthinkable in the past. Harry Kane, Thomas Muller, Isco… they’re all sorts of names I’m hearing already.”
