Man United told how to land £500million financial boost thanks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester United have been told they could earn up to £500million by selling the naming rights to a potential new stadium.

It was soon established after Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority takeover that one of his priorities for the club was to improve their facilities. Old Trafford has deteriorated massively under the Glazers, falling well behind their competitors in Europe.

A task force was put together to explore the options for regeneration, and last month they concluded a new build would be the most prosperous option. A 100,000-seater ground on club-owned land adjacent to Old Trafford has been recommended.

It's estimated cost is £2billion - but a quarter of that could be reclaimed just from its name, according to Dr Rob Wilson, a professor of Applied Sports Finance at Sheffield Hallam University. With reports claiming United plan to keep Old Trafford as a second venue, he feels there's full scope for it to become a sponsorship vehicle.

Speaking hypothetically with regards to United's new kit partner Snapdragon, Dr Wilson told Casasdeapuestas.bet: "I think in terms of figures, if it was Snapdragon, they'd look to try and tie that into their shirt sponsorship and some of their other activities.

"It could do one or two things that could suppress the value because Snapdragon put another 30 on top of their £70million shirt sponsor to make it a round number. I think the stadium naming rights could be worth probably £50m a year in their own right.
