Man United one step closer to proven striker for Ruben Amorim as new £20m update issued

Manchester United's search for a striker goes on with their options continuing to dwindle this summer.

Liam Delap was heavily linked towards the end of 2024/25, but the Reds' failure to qualify for the Champions League appears to have cost them there after he opted to join Chelsea. Viktor Gyokeres was another option with his links to United boss Ruben Amorim from their time at Sporting together, making many feel it was a perfect match.

And yet another Premier League rival in Arsenal appears set to win that particular race. The Reds must now look at other options once they conclude a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic has been tentatively linked for some time, and United may now have the perfect opportunity to sign him. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Juventus are looking to cut his £20million-a-year wages.

It is said that the Italians could cancel his contract, and meetings with several English clubs are scheduled for next week.

The Serbian has scored 43 league goals in 104 appearances for Juventus and is seen as an ideal target man who could immediately strengthen United’s front line.

And the Reds' financial constraints could make a free transfer appealing. It has recently been claimed that English trio Callum Wilson, Jamie Vardy, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin — all free agents — have been offered to United as they explore cut-price options.

But Vlahovic would be a significant upgrade on the three players being linked. His experience of playing for arguably Italy's biggest club should help him to cope with the considerable pressure United's players experience at Old Trafford.

The Reds will be wary of signing another striker from Italy's top-tier after Rasmus Hojlund's struggles
