Man United legend slams Sir Jim Ratcliffe and makes ambition claim after £140m transfer spend

United legend Teddy Sheringham has slammed Sir Jim Ratcliffe claiming he doesn't see any "ambition" coming from the co-owner when it comes to transfers.

It's been a busy summer for United with the club overseeing moves for Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5million and Leny Yoro from Lille for £58.9million, while deals for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt are rumoured to be imminent. However club icon Sheringham believes that the players brought in so far won't be sufficient enough to alter United's league fortunes.

Sheringham, who was instrumental in United's iconic treble winning season in 1999, also claimed that Ratcliffe's hands-on approach with United "doesn't mean anything". The former striker didn't hold back as he also declared that there are no "guarantees" any of United's new recruits will turn out to be a good fit for Erik ten Hag's side.

Speaking to onlinepoker.ltd, Sheringham unloaded on the new United hierarchy and insisted the new regime won't make much of a difference to the club's chances on the pitch. "From my point of view, having a new football structure and Jim Ratcliffe involved as a minority owner doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t even touch the sides, and it won’t have any significant impact on what happens on the grass," he said.

"It’s just a new man putting money into the football club. Bringing in a new CEO and football executives won’t improve the players or the manager. I can’t see the new owners showing their ambition by bringing in a player that is going to have a transformative effect on
