Man United have secret transfer weapon to sign ideal Andre Onana replacement

Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford is reportedly on Manchester United's radar, and they hold an advantage over the likes of Newcastle United and Chelsea in the race for his signature.

United could turn to the transfer market to strengthen their goalkeeping department following a tough season for No.1 Andre Onana. He was at fault for both of United's goals during their 2-2 Europa League quarter-final draw to Lyon on Thursday night.

Thiago Almada's free-kick, somehow, made its way into the back of the net with Onana flapping at the air, before Ryan Cherki capitalised on another error from the United goalkeeper in stoppage time.

Despite his mistakes, Reds boss Ruben Amorim has defended the Cameroonian, saying: "If you look at the season I've made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months.

His poor display comes after former United midfielder Nemanja Matic called him 'one of the worst goalkeepers' in the club's history.

With the summer around the corner, Tom Heaton is coming to the end of his contract while Altay Bayindir could depart in search of regular game time.

Reports in February suggested United plan to sign a new 'keeper for next season and are claimed to have 'already made enquiries' about a potential move for Trafford.
